Regional Radio Group’s Sue Ford this week celebrated the 40th anniversary of her Arts On the Air program, which originated on WWSC and is currently heard every Sunday morning on Regional Radio Group’s 98.5 WCKM FM, WCQL 95.9 FM and WWSC 1450 AM.
In honor of the anniversary, Monday’s North Country Notebook on Talk! 1450 WWSC devoted an entire hour to Sue Ford and her decades of broadcasting, as nearly a dozen guests from the local arts community stepped up to the microphone to pay tribute. Among the guests sharing their thoughts on this landmark anniversary were former Wood Theater Executive Director Bill Woodward and his successor Erin Coon, Lake George Arts Project Executive Director John Strong, Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra Music Director Charles Peltz, Neil and Phyllis Akins from WrightStage Productions, and many others.
North Country Notebook host Alan Doane says “I’ve known and worked with Sue for a quarter of a century, and I can tell you that I speak for many, many Glens Falls broadcasters when I tell you that Arts On the Air is a cornerstone of local broadcast history. The contributions she’s made to the stations that have carried her program, and to the local arts community overall, cannot be overstated.”
Regional Radio Group owner and General Manager Clay Ashworth noted that “Sue’s work on the air has benefited countless performers and artists for forty years now, and we’re proud and delighted to be able to help bring her broadcast to our listeners every week.”
Arts On the Air can be heard every Sunday morning on Regional Radio Group’s stations, 98.5 WCKM FM, WCQL 95.9 FM and WWSC 1450 AM.
