Born in Glens Falls and raised in Greenfield Center, WWSC’s newsman Jim Scott graduated from Greenfield Elementary School and Saratoga Springs High School with an early love for radio. He found his first work for WRSA in Saratoga Springs in 1958, followed by WSPN in Saratoga Springs and WWSC in Glens Falls from 1959-1961. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force as an electronic aircraft systems maintenance specialist, he worked part time at several radio stations in Mississippi and Florida.
Jim graduated from the community college of the Air Force with a degree in English. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1966, he collected additional credits at Hartwick College in Oneonta. He then spent ensuing years with WBZA AM and FM in Glens Falls, WOKO, WROW, WABY in Albany, WWWD in Schenectady, and did correspondent work for WGNA before signing on with WCKM in 1994 until present.
Married for 27 years, Jim has three children and six grandchildren. Some of his hobbies include GMRS and CB Radio, and playing with his black lab Yankee. His favorite food is anything from his grandparent’s homeland of Czechoslovakia, his favorite actor is Paul Newman, favorite movie is “Summer of 42″ and he loves all kinds of music. Jim hopes to someday meet President Obama.
